Day 9 - Spice Shop

I took a stroll down Broadway this afternoon and snapped a few pictures at the the spice shop.

Broadway.
Now that's a lot of peppercorn!

I can't tell you what half of these are but they smell great!

Day 8 - Willington Island

I was craving Thai on Saturday, so I took the public ferry over to Willington Island to have dinner at the Taj Malabar hotel. A round trip costs less than 10 cents! The catch is that the ferry station reeks and you get gnawed on by hundreds of mosquitoes (any of which could be carrying a life-threatening virus such as yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, malaria, etc.). Regardless, it was a lot of fun and the food was great!

This shot is from the ferry looking back towards Kochi. Our apartment building is the one on the far right.

Day 6 - Marine Drive

I went to dinner @ Bimbi's tonight, a little restaurant on Marine Drive. They have the best food for your money within walking distance of the apartment. You can get a great meal for less than 4 USD!!! Along the way, I snapped a few photos.

Everyone here rides a bike, takes a rickshaw or a bus.

Day 2 - Kochi

I took some pictures of the city from the roof of the apartment building.

This is another picture of the Port of Kochi.

East Kochi.

Northeast Kochi.

Day 1 - Kochi

I arrived early Saturday morning and took some pictures from the apartment balcony which overlooks the Port of Kochi. I'm staying in the Link Horizon apartment building located on Marine Drive in the city of Kochi, state of Kerala, India.

The apartment overlooks a promenade which runs alongside the water. This is a popular place for locals to exercise and socialize as it is shaded and frequented by a cool breeze.

The Port of Kochi is expanding rapidly. It receives crude oil, liquefied natural gas and other cargo. There is a large shipbuilding and repair terminal as well.
